Combining memoir and erotica, Emily Bingham offers bawdy literary pleasures in Diary of a Rope Slut. Rollicking sexual adventure and self-discovery intertwine as she explores the search for love with a kinky twist.
Rope has always been thrilling to Bingham. As a child she asked playground friends to tie her up with jump ropes. Years later, she would ask a lover to bind her, initiating Bingham’s discovery of erotic rope bondage and her decade-long journey through the revelations and pleasures of life in the world of BDSM.
Reflecting on her first thirty rope encounters, Diary of a Rope Slut leads the reader through moments of learning and discovery, magical connection, awkward mishaps, and the harrowing evening when her consent was violated. Bingham’s brave and intelligent stories are bound up in moments of self-love and sexual discovery that will resonate with vanilla readers and filthy perverts alike. Honest, poignant, and astonishing, Bingham’s book also unflinchingly discusses the importance of consent and boundaries in kinky relationships.
Diary of a Rope Slut is a must-read for bondage enthusiasts, the rope-curious, and anyone seeking a smart, sexy book.
Diary of a Rope Slut an Erotic Memoir edition by Emily Bingham Shay Tiziano Literature Fiction eBooks
I am new to the genre of erotic memoir, but because of this book I’m now intrigued by it.Diary of a Rope Slut is a story of sexual discovery and self-discovery, arranged in the structure of thirty chapters, each an encounter with a new man. This is not to imply that Bingham’s journey of discovery depended on each, or any particular man. But any erotic quest without partners would be a rather limited story, yes?
The early encounters described can somewhat dismal, and depressing. “Learning experiences,” let’s call them. Bingham had fantasized about bondage and power, and specifically rope, long before she even understood how sex worked. She describes how challenging finding someone with similar tastes in the stifling small town in which she grew up could be, even after moving to larger towns in the Midwest. Eventually she does meet kinkier people and finds both satisfactions and dissatisfactions, and importantly meets not just practitioners of rope bondage but *photographers* of it, and she is hooked—but, still limited, she ultimately decides to head to the coast to find what she’s looking for.
She moves to Portland, and finally surrounded by her own kind, Bingham begins to navigate a whole new set of joys and problems: the Scene.
She meets fantastic men, and less than fantastic men. Becoming known as a willing model, she meets more photographers with varying levels of professionalism and varying levels of talent (not to mention personal sexiness). She describes the good and the bad, and the occasionally scary—and things do get scary.
This is not just a hot book, but a brave one. It is confessional, proud, and occasionally embarrassed, all at the same time. Bingham broke out of her boring and stifling early environment and went for it, explored—did the things many people only wish, deeply, desperately wish, they could do, if only they had the guts, or the time, or the different set of circumstances, or…you name your own reasons for wishing you’d done more brave things.
This is a wonderful book—hot and sexy, but also truthful, many of Bingham’s encounters less than successful. I’ve read many of the author’s short stories in anthologies, it was fascinating to read of her personal sexual and emotional journey.

Diary of a Rope Slut an Erotic Memoir edition by Emily Bingham Shay Tiziano Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I've been loving reading this book! It's so fun to feel like you are right there with her on her journey into the wonderful world of rope. It's a fun, quick read. I especially highly recommend for anyone interested in rope or who is new to the BDSM community, but it's a fun read regardless. We can all relate to the ups and downs of dating, hookups, and self exploration.
Well written. Can't put it down once you start reading it.
Finally a story about BDSM, that is not filled with consent violation, masquerading as BDSM. This book is knowledgable, responsible, informative, funny, and brave. This is a great antidote to the reprehensible 50 Shades of consent violations.
An amazing book that describes a personal journey and exploration within the bounds of the kink community. Emily also recounts a traumatizing act/crime and how she is overcoming it and moving her life forward. Powerful stuff.
Emily Bingham’s „Diary of a Rope Slut an Erotic Memoir“ is all about bondage - and so much more. Combining memoir and erotica it’s shameless in the best sense of the word.
So is this smut? Honestly, it depends on your point of view. If you think 50 Shades is a book describing real BDSM you might feel it is. The same might apply if you still watch replays of Baywatch „for scientific purposes“ or are offended by learning somebody actually loves to have sex.
I would rather say 'Diary of a Rope Slut' is a sensual and emotional book, both an inspiration and a source, but foremost just a great read. You might find yourself tempted to tie somebody up or get tied up after reading it, though. But then that’s not really a bad thing, especially as Emily Bingham can help you here, too When she isn't writing, she can be found playing with rope or teaching bondage and consent classes to the kink curious.
This book is outstanding, allowing a wonderful and touching insight of the author's journey into rope.
Full disclosure I know Emily, and her writing. At the same time, I've never read this much of her writing in one place - and I'm happy to say that the deeper you go into her memories with her, the more lush and beautiful and riveting they are. At the same time, you never forget that she is there, with you, reliving these experiences. She writes about thing with a clarity and visceral imagery that really brings the scenes and the people to life - and hearing her thoughts during them, the real thoughts, not just the happy or lusty ones, gives the whole thing a reality that is rare in erotica in general and unique, to my knowledge, in the rope community.
Highly recommended.
This is an absolutely delightful read that I cannot recommend highly enough.
The writing style is profoundly honest. The content is obviously explicit; but it's not smutty. It's presented in such a way that makes it clear the book is more about the journey. It is a deeply human story where the author is unafraid to share of herself; rough edges and all.
If you're curious about the idea of rope bondage there's obviously a lot for you here, but I think there's something here to enjoy wether you are into the subject or not. Something deeply interesting and important; a story that transcends the material. To me, this is a story about a woman figuring out what her passions are and learning how to at first be comfortable with and eventually embrace them.
This is a story of someone learning who she is and the journey that gets her there.
